FAQ

Do I need any competition math background to start?

No. The placement test starts easy for everyone, regardless of experience — that's the whole point of a placement test.

What's the difference between AMC and AIME?

AMC 10/12 are entry-level contests (grades 10 and below / up to grade 12). AIME is a harder, invitational round for students who qualify through AMC — shorter numeric-answer problems, no multiple choice.

How much time do I need per day?

Whatever you set. Onboarding asks how many minutes per week you have, and the daily plan sizes itself to that — there's no fixed daily requirement.

What does my "rating" mean?

A single number on a 600–1800 scale, shared with every problem's difficulty rating. It moves after every attempt (up on correct, down on incorrect) and drives which problems your plan picks next.

What does free access include?

Everything — placement, the daily plan, hints, worked solutions, topic videos, and the full problem library. There's no paid tier.

Can I skip or retry a problem?

There's no skip button today — once you submit an answer, that problem is locked in and the correct answer is revealed. You can always move to any other problem from Practice.

What can a hint do, and not do?

Hints come from a fixed set of general problem-solving strategies, not from an AI model and not written specifically for the problem in front of you — so they nudge toward a way of thinking, not the key idea in that exact problem. If a hint looks unhelpful, the worked solution is the authoritative answer, and you can report the hint from the problem page.
